Gates Mills
Hello Villagers,
The month of June brings our calendars to the halfway point of the year. The days have been long, sunny, hot and dry.
We enjoyed numerous opportunities to engage in our community and meet with neighbors and friends. The month included the St. Francis festival, the Historical Society’s opening of the Kish Family Gallery, the Garden Club’s successful Garden Walk with 500 in attendance, ENCORE quartets playing in numerous Village venues and June 23 in the afternoon the ENCORE finale, the Camerata, in the heart of the village.
The ENCORE - Gates Mills Music and Idea Festival featured over forty highly selected prodigal musicians from across the United States learning from mentors how to fine tune their craft and artistry. They played with passion and for the love of music. I hope you were able to experience the ENCORE students during one of their concerts.
The second half of the year starts in a few days. Top of the order is our magical Fourth of July parade sponsored by the Improvement Society. Several thousand people will line Chagrin River Road, as they have done since the 1940s, to be entertained by the marching band, antique cars, floats, bicycles and candy throwers. It’s a Norman Rockwell scene. Later in July, the Village is sponsoring its annual concert on the green with music by Steve Jochum. All are welcome. There is no cost and tables will be set up for you to enjoy a picnic dinner. Or simply bring a blanket or chair and enjoy the evening.
Thanks to all of you that have volunteered to deliver a great first half year with fun, engagement and safety. Your efforts and collaboration make Gates Mills the unique community that we all love.
Very truly yours,
Steven L Siemborski, Mayor
